Sponsored Programs
The Foundation's greatest impact has come from the continual sponsorship of various programs for students and teachers. These programs have been developed with the goal of reaching as many students as possible and provide support school-wide. We look forward to contuining to support these programs and hope to add more each year.
"Pass it On"
Through a cooperative effort between the Wildcat Foundation and our local Barnes & Noble bookstore in the "Other Center," NLRHS students invade the bookstore to select reading material for the classroom libraries. Students chosen as "designated shoppers" select books of interest and then, after reading the book, "pass it on" to one of their classmates. Stickers, with student-reader signatures, identify the books. The program was started in 2008 and since that time, over $10,000 of new books have been purchased for the students.
Arkansas Girls & Boys State
Each year the Foundation pays the registration fees for 10 boys to attend Boys State at the UCA campus in Conway and 10 girls to attend Girls State at the Harding campus in Searcy. Sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxillary, Boys State and Girls State are nationally recognized leadership development programs for rising high school seniors. Delegates participate in simulated governmental activities at this residential camp and shadow constitutional officers at the State Capitol.
A.C.E Luncheon
NLRHS sponsors quarterly luncheons to recognize student performance in three areas....Achievement, Committment, & Excellence. Students nominated by their teachers are treated to a special lunch provided by the Foundation. Approximately 400 students get to participate each year.
Training Facility at Wildcat Statdium
One of the Foundation's major accomplishments was the completion of the new training facility and concession stand at Wildcat Stadium in 2006. The Foundation helped raise over $150,000 to complete the facility and could not have done it with the amazing support of local businesses and community leaders.
Additional Projects
The Foundation sponsors many other programs including the "Innovative Teaching Grant," an annual award given by the NLR Public Education Foundation to teachers within the District, and "Post Prom," an after-prom party that is hosted by the NLRHS PTSA.
